Spiritual Warfare – Armor of God

Spiritual Warfare – Armor of God

Posted on 03/06/ 2021 By Jonathan K

I’ve been in a  state of spiritual warfare for the last four and a half years of my life.  I’ve been delivered from many different enemies.   Here is what I have learned.  First, it’s important to be filled with the word and to stand on the word at all times. The word has all the answers that will allow us to stand against the enemies.   I believe that each part of the Armor of God is built upon the word.   We need to build ourselves with the word.  The word will allow you to build faith around each piece of armor.

The Helmet of Hope/Salvation

  • Hope is very important for a christian.  “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13: 13)
The word says “
  • Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;  perseverance, experience; and experience, hope.
  •
  • And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:3-5)
  • Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12.
We know we are saved by these passages.
  • “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24)
  • “This is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” (John 6:40)
  • “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
  • The Breast Plate of Righteousness

The breast plate of righteousness is our rightness in our relationship to father God.  This righteousness is given to us by us having faith in Jesus Christ.  As believers we are in the body of Christ and therefore when God sees us we are righteous.   By what Jesus did on the cross we are able to have complete, beautiful righteousness with father God.  Our relationship with him is pure and beautiful because of the price Jesus paid.
    • “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” ((2 Corinthians 5:21)).

    The Shield of Faith

The shield of faith is of monumental importance.  Our faith is what holds everything together as a christian.  It’s what allows us to stand on the many promises of God.  When we have faith in the word and we know with certainty that it’s all real and true, then we can stand in the power of the word.
    • The word is living and effective, sharper than any two edge sword.  It penetrates and divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, it reflects the thoughts of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
    • If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.  (Matthew 17:20)

    Belt of Truth

Jesus is the truth.  Jesus is the way the truth and the life.  So when we put on truth we put on Jesus.  We put on the word.   Jesus is the word.    We can use our faith to stand in the word and the truth.

    Footings of Peace

    • Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
The footings of peace in the gospel allow your heart soul and mind to find peace from the word.  With this peace comes knowledge of salvation, love and kindness that comes from the promises of the word.

    Sword of the Spirit

This is our offensive weapon.   It is the offensive piece of our full armor.  There are many different pieces of scripture that can be used as offensive weapons.  It’s important to memorize these and to use them regularly in spiritual warfare. Here are some of the best pieces of scripture you can use.
    • He shall go out like a mighty man of war.  He shall stir up his zeal like a mighty man of war.  He shall cry out yes shout aloud.  He shall prevail against the enemy. (Isaiah 42:13)
    • Father God is a might man of war, the Lord is his name. (Exodus 15:3)
    • With your right arm you’re gloriously powerful, with your right arm you dash the wicked into pieces. (Exodus 15:6)
    • Through your greatness and excellency you over throw those who rose against you.  You send out your wrath and consume them as stubble. (Exodus 15:7)
    • Father God you are my eternal refuge and underneath you are your everlasting arms. You thrust the enemy before you and say destroy. (Deuteronomy 33:27)
    • Father God you guard the feet of your saints, and the wicked you silence in the darkness. Through no strength of our own shall we prevail.  But Father God you break the enemy into pieces, you thunder upon them from heaven, you judge the end of the world and exalt the horn of your anointed. (1 Samuel 2:9-10)
    • I’ve pursued my enemy, nor did I turn until they were consumed. I’ve wounded them, they cannot rise, they’ve fallen under feet. (2 Samuel 22) You’ve girded me with strength for the battle and subdued under me those who rose against me. You’ve given me the necks of my enemy that I destroy them that hate me. I beat them as dust in the wind and run them out as dust in the street. (Psalms 18:39-46)
